Henri Vandenabeele abandons the Vuelta a España

Vuelta a España

After eight hard days of racing Team DSM’s Henri Vandenabeele stepped off the bike during today’s tough and mountainous stage nine at the Vuelta a España.

Vandenabeele said: “It’s been a really nice time with the team here at my first Vuelta. I think my legs were getting better each stage but today I really suffered and it was too much for me, so I stopped. I want to wish the rest of the guys the best of luck for the next part of the race.”

Team DSM coach Matt Winston added: “Despite his fall in the Netherlands, Henri was growing into the race each day and his form was improving in a good direction; and he played an important teammates role in the previous days for us. We’ll miss Henri here at the race but the rest of the guys are all motivated to show ourselves in the final two weeks.”
