Tough day out for the team at Paris Tours

Paris Tours

Team DSM came away fromParis Tours empty handed after a difficult day at Paris Tours with Casper Pedersen first over the line for the team in 81st, seven minutes down on the front group.

The day’s early breakaway was formed of just three riders but their advantage wasn’t too last as the peloton already accelerated already with 100 kilometres still to race. The race hit the first gravel tracks with the peloton already having caught the break and from here the pressure started to tell on the race with a small peloton forming before a trio went clear with around 40 kilometres to race. Cees Bol set off in pursuit of the three but was unable to bridge across.

The three became two in the final 10 kilometres before two riders bridged across on the finishing straight to fight out the finish.

Team DSM coach Marc Reef said after the race: “We took control of the race with Niklas early in the day which brought us focus and put us in the race immediately. The race then split after the feedzone and we were in the front with Søren, Cees and Casper which put us in a good situation.

“Then in the final we followed some moves but were not able to get into the right one, so we got no result in the end.”
