Rider Q and A

Q&A with Martijn Tusveld

Newsletter

This month we asked you on our social media channels if you had any questions for Martijn Tusveld! After having signed a new contract with the team and coming out of his first Tour de France he sat down to answer them.

Q: What is your favourite race?

A: My favourite race is Il Lombardia at the end of the season. The race has a lot of tradition, the profile suits the climbers and it is always nice to go there.

Q: What was your favourite moment at your first TdF and what was the worst?

A: My favourite moment was probably passing the Dutch corner on the Alpe d’Huez. The atmosphere was super impressive and I think I will never forget this. The worst was maybe my crash on the stage to Carcassonne, but I am really happy that I still made it to Paris.

Q: What do you do to pass the time in the hotel in the evenings?

A: After the stage we travel in our team bus to the next hotel. After arrival we get our massage and have dinner together. At Grand Tours there is usually not so much time for more, and I try to relax as much as possible and get ready for the next day.

Q: Do you have any hobbies outside of cycling?

A: Next to cycling I am studying psychology part-time, so I do not have so much more time for “real” hobbies!

Q: What do you look forward to the most, after a Grand Tour?

A: Eating a pizza and catching up with some friends!
