The Tour de Suisse got underway today with a fast 11 kilometre long blast around the streets of Frauenfeld, with some changeable weather conditions. Despite a more technical opening third where good bike handlers could limit their losses or gain some time, the flat nature of the course would suit the powerful time trial specialists.
Solid early times were set by Jasha Sütterlin, Thymen Arensman and Tiesj Benoot, but it would be Søren Kragh Andersen that would light up the timing sheets for the team. Storming his way around the wet course to cross the line with a very respectable effort of 12 minutes and 22 seconds, it would be enough to see Kragh Andersen move into a provisional second place. It would remain tight at the top of the order, with Kragh Andersen bumped down to ninth place come the end of the day, finishing only ten seconds off of a podium spot for the team.
