Coming from the Netherlands, Bart had a good 2021 season riding in the junior ranks, racing throughout the continent, and collecting a good set of results particularly in France, before joining Development Team DSM in 2022.
Despite coming from a cycling-mad family where both of his parents and grandfathers competed on the road, Bart was initially against the idea of cycling and even hated the prospect of riding to school on his omafiets.
Instead, he channelled his sporty nature through football, where he competed to a relatively high level in his young age with FC Dordrecht. However, after a series of injuries Bart finally turned his attention to two-wheels and hasn’t looked back since.
Committed and passionate, Bart is also a thinker too and uses his time on the bike to switch off and relax, enjoying all of the nature and countryside around him when he’s not doing any efforts.
Looking ahead to his first year in the team, Bart wants to learn as much as much as he can and help out his teammates; with the goal of in the future being able to develop and take results as the team’s finisher.
