Another rider who made the step up to WorldTour from the team’s Development program, Felix is excited for his opening few years in the elite men’s peloton.

“Now it gets real. It’s really exciting and I’m looking forward to everything. Once it was clear I would step up to the pros I was of course really happy, but now I am even more excited than I thought I would be and I can’t wait to start racing.”

With a mature head on his young shoulders, Felix appreciates the importance of learning from his teammates and gaining as much knowledge and race craft that he can in his first year in the WorldTour.

“In the beginning I think it is important to learn. I know how the team works which is great but the races are on a different level, I’m really curious to see the differences in the peloton and how the races unfold; the tactics of it all. I’m excited to ride with some of the more experienced guys.”

Triathlon was the first sport Felix took seriously after doing a lot of different sports when he was younger. At the age of 16 he switched his focus to cycling as it was his favourite out of the three sports.

Someone that enjoys the team aspect of the sport, Felix likes the excitement and extra adrenaline of being a designated team leader during a race but he also likes to work for others too.

“Once you set out with a goal to achieve something together and when it works out, it is the best feeling. It gives you a lot of energy.”

Although fast on the bike, Felix takes a more relaxed and steady pace to his time off of it. He thoroughly enjoys his downtime and doing nothing is “fun” for him. You can sometimes find him gaming on the PlayStation or playing the piano, albeit he jokingly admits he is nowhere nearly as talented as teammate Chad.
