After graduating with an MSc in Aerospace Engineering where he did his thesis in sports aerodynamics, Harm worked in aerodynamic engineering and testing – focusing on cycling related testing in a wind tunnel such as aerodynamic bike fitting, before ultimately joining the team as Aerodynamics Expert towards the end of the 2019 season.

Like most, Harm’s passion for cycling came from watching the Tour de France on television as a youngster, before he transitioned into a keen amateur cyclist himself, falling more in love with the sport. At university during his studies as a sports aerodynamicist he was able to further that sentiment and it “opened the door to combine his passion and work.”

Harm and the team share a similar approach to sport which has allowed him to fit in well with the team.

“I really agree with the team’s philosophy in which science is a big component of performance and working together as a team really brings us forward. I think working with the other experts and aiming to be the best in our own field of work brings us that competitive edge on the road.”

As an Aerodynamics Expert, it is no surprise that some of Harm’s favourite moments with the team so far are the Juliette Labous and Søren Kragh Andersen’s TT successes in 2020 – but he also prides himself in the team’s double podium at the Giro.

Looking ahead, Harm wants to continue to integrate more technology and innovations alongside the team’s other experts and technical partners – aiming to boost the performance of the riders.
