New to the team in 2022, young-British rider Max makes the step up to the U23 level with the Development program after two successful years in the junior category.
2021 saw him take several wins in the UK racing scene, including the national championships road race, before going on to take wins in Europe at the GP Rüebliland and Philippe Gilbert Juniors stage races. Yet, despite the results, Max carries himself in a way that he can always take something from the races.
Not from a cycling family and originally a footballer, Max has an interesting back story as how he got into the sport.
From there he was hooked, taking up track, road and cyclocross alongside juggling his football commitments. He eventually stopped with the latter and fully focused on cycling, before narrowing it down further to purely road cycling, something he doesn’t regret at all.
Finding the right match with a team was important in making the step-up for Max and he found that with Team DSM, not feeling out of place and “at ease here.”
As a first year U23 he wants to learn as much as possible from everyone around him, and help the team to some wins, before hopefully racing his arms in the air in the future.
Talkative and relaxed, you can find Max spending his free time chatting to his mates while playing the Xbox, with mostly FIFA and COD the games in cycle. If not, he’s spending time with his family or watching American Football which he is “mad keen on”.
