A new face to the team in 2022, joining the Development program, powerful young German rider Moritz took several good results in his two years in the junior ranks, including a podium at the national championships in the time trial, third on GC at Internationale Juniorenrundfahrt and second at Saarland Trofeo juniors. Ready to get stuck in as he makes the transition to racing at U23 level, Moritz is enthused by the team’s approach.
It won’t be a completely new set of faces on the team though for Moritz, as he is a regular training partner of Men’s program rider Niklas [Märkl] who lives just five kilometres away, and is friends with Marco [Brenner], having previously trained and gone on holiday with him too.
Hailing from a non-cycling family, Moritz turned his attention to all things two wheeled at the age of 11 after trying several other sports which “weren’t for him”. Chalking up some early wins, much to his delight, he soon fell in love with the sport and has done ever since.
Looking to his first few years in the team, Moritz wants to take his driven and committed attitude so that he can learn and improve as much as possible, with a view that “the results will then follow” after that.
When he’s not out on his bike training or racing, Moritz is like most teenagers and enjoys relaxing and meeting up with his friends. That is when he’s not studying to finish his general school studies which he hopes to complete by the middle of the year.
