A new addition to the team in 2020, Tiesj burst onto the scene as a neo-pro in 2015 when he took a very impressive fifth place at the Ronde van Vlaanderen. Since then he has continued his development every year as a rider, picking up a victory at an epic edition of Strade Bianche in 2018 alongside some strong places in one-week stage races.
Originally a football player, Tiesj wanted to be a cyclist from a young age but had to wait until he was ten years old to take up the sport. He combined both sports for one year but cycling became his passion and from that point it was all he did.
Tiesj is a consummate professional and enjoys the dedication and discipline that is required to become one of the best riders in the world.
Compelled by his own willingness to improve, Tiesj wants to continue to make steps in his development with the team. Notably, he highlights time trials as a big area of improvement and something that he hopes to utilise the team’s expertise to get better at, and as a consequence improve his results in one-week stage races.
Level-headed, Tiesj’s infectious personality makes him an outgoing character and he enjoys spending time with his university friends while away from the cycling world, going out and socialising with them.
More importantly though, Tiesj is someone that lives without regrets and enjoys the position that he is in.
