Always fascinated by nutrition, Vera completed a BSc as a Dietician before deciding she wanted to specialise in sports nutrition. Alongside starting her own company where she worked full-time as a clinical and sports dietician, she completed her IOC Diploma in Sports Nutrition before furthering her education with an MSc from the University of Stirling in Sport Nutrition. Since then, Vera has taken up a role as a part-time lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences (Fontys Hogeschool) and worked as a member of the Performance Nutrition Team within Team NL, before now joining the Nutrition group at Team DSM in 2021

“Although nutrition seems like a simple topic and Google probably has an answer for everything, performance nutrition is not that easy at all. Guiding athletes in balancing between optimal body composition and optimal intake of nutrients to improve health and performance is definitely not a simple task.”

Someone that loves her job and seeing those she works with develop, Vera is relishing the challenge of working in cycling and with Team DSM.

“It’s a team with high ethical standards which is continuously striving for improvement in all fields contributing to performance. Not only to improve the performance of individual riders, but also to the performance of the team in general.  The team spirit and the thrive for innovation really attracts me, and fits me as a person.”
