New to the team for the 2021 season, Wilbert most recently worked at BEAT Cycling as a coach, as well as in an operational role for the track and road teams. Under his tutelage, he was part of successful road seasons for the Dutch based team, alongside their impressive displays on the track.

Like most, he got into the sport of cycling after watching his dad race bikes locally. Initially, Wilbert focused on skating in the winter but he always rode his bike in the summer and slowly transitioned more onto two wheels, where he himself competed in some national races in the Netherlands.

Holding a Bachelors degree in Human Movements and Sports, alongside his masters in Educational Leadership, Wilbert aims to bring those qualities with him as he takes on his role as Coach with the team.

“I’m really excited to be a part of Team DSM. I’m looking forward to coaching at the highest level and working with a group of really motivated and committed people.”

Someone that thrives on good teamwork and cooperation, Wilbert’s own philosophy and approach aligns well with the team and it’s something that he hopes to build on during the coming year – and see success out on the road.

“I believe that with good cooperation you can achieve a lot more together than as an individual – something the team believes in and has shown through their performances on and off the bike. I think the structure of Team DSM suits me well personally and I can’t wait to achieve some good things together.”
