Romain Combaud 17th on day 2 at the Tour of Norway

Tour of Norway

Romain Combaud was first home for Team DSM after an attacking finale from the team before a bunch sprint that settled the stage honours. Combaud crossed the line in 17th place after teammate Andreas Leknessund went on the attack with seven kilometres to go.

The race was all brought back together with 10 kilometres left to race after the final remaining riders had been reeled in with a helping hand from Leo Hayter en route. From here several attacks flew from the front of the bunch but the high pace meant that nothing was allowed much room and the expected uphill bunch sprint unfolded.

“It was a controlled race from the start by INEOS today who let five riders take a solid lead,” explained Team DSM coach Michiel Elijzen after the finish. “We focused on the final and helped in the chase with Leo on the front to create a chance of a chaotic final where we attacked with Andreas and later on worked together to lead out Romain for the sprint. We saw some good initiatives and teamwork from the guys today and will go away and refocus on tomorrow.”
