Team DSM with strong 3rd in fine TTT display at Vårgårda

Postnord Vårgårda WestSweden TTT

One of the most unique races on the calendar, today the team were in action for the Postnord Vårgårda WestSweden TTT. Tackling a 35.6 kilometre long course, it was set to be a hard and fast afternoon in the saddle with several technical sections throughout the route and a swirling wind to make things more complicated.

The team set out with a plan and rode a really measured and consistent effort, setting the fastest time at each checkpoint they went through and eventually stopping the clock in 45 minutes and 45 seconds; averaging 46.68 kilometres per hour. After some time in the hot seat, only two teams would go faster come the end of the race, with Team DSM heading into tomorrow’s road race with a fine third place.

“It’s really nice to finish on the podium today, as for four of us this was our first TTT ever and our first time racing together,” explained road captain Pfeiffer Georgi. “We went in without expectations and focused on delivering a technically good race so to come away with third was a nice surprise. Now we’re looking forward to the road race tomorrow.”

Team DSM coach Huub Duijn added: “We started with a young and inexperienced squad in terms of team time trials. We went through the basics, and did a nice training session yesterday. We started without too much pressure result wise, but coming in third is really nice. The girls worked well together, and of course we have some technical improvement points, but it was also very hard with the wind and twisting course. I’m really proud of how the team did their race, and we’re looking forward to tomorrow.”
