Team DSM and Volvo Car Netherlands are delighted to become partners, with the globally recognised brand providing the team with cars as of next season.
Team DSM will drive the Volvo V60 Cross Country model. The combination of its higher ground clearance and all-wheel drive, makes it the perfect fit for both action and comfort during bike races. The cars come equipped with mild-hybrid technology. This means electric power supports the engine, reducing the impact on the environment, which is a key objective of the team. The cars will support all three programs that the team operate: Men, Women and Development.
Frits Giesbers (Commercial Operations Director Volvo Car Netherlands): “We are proud that Team DSM will drive in our cars and that we are able to contribute to the team’s safety and success in the peloton with our latest technology. Our purpose is to offer ‘freedom to move, in a personal, sustainable and safe way’ and in a rapidly changing automotive industry we challenge ourselves to be leaders in this transition. From that perspective, we have been inspired by Team DSM’s Keep Challenging vision.”
Jan Wermink (Head of Business Strategy Team DSM): “We are excited with this new partnership with Volvo and we are looking forward to begin working together in 2021. Volvo cars are a world-wide recognised brand and known for their industry-leading focus on safety. Furthermore, with their continual addition and innovation of new safety technology in their cars, and the steps they are making in their electrification strategy, they perfectly match our vision for sustainability and safety as a team.”
