Ingredients
- 500g whole wheat flour from de Bisschopsmolen
- 250ml water
- 5g salt
- 7g dry yeast
- 5ml Fincas Duernas Olive oil
Equipment
- Bowl / kitchen machine to knead the bread
- Oven tray
- Oven
- Baking paper
Preparation method
Step 1:
- Put the salt and olive oil on the bottom of the bowl.
- Add the flour to the bowl.
- Add the water and yeast.
Important at this step:
Check the temperature of the water as yeast will not work in a cold environment. Warm water is essential, as the yeast will start working at 25 degrees.
Step 2:
- Mix the dough (by hand: 15 minutes / by machine: 5 minutes).
- If the dough is elastic you know it is mixed well enough. You can check this by slowly pulling the bread apart. When the dough is good you can see light coming through it.
- Take it out of the bowl and make a ball out of the dough.
- Put it back in the bowl and put a (dry and clean) towel over the bowl.
- Let it rest for 20 minutes.
Step 3:
- Take the dough out of the bowl, knead it and make it flat.
- Make the shape of the bread.
- Add baking paper to an oven tray and place the bread on there.
- Cover the bread with a towel.
- Let it rest for 20 minutes.
- Pre heat the oven to 200 degrees.
Step 4:
- With a sharp knife, cut into the top of the bread (cross or stripes – whatever you prefer), but not too deep!
- Bake the bread for 25 minutes and let it rest.
- After 20 minutes tap the bottom of the bread, when it sounds hollow you know the bread is good to go and ready.
Enjoy!
